UPDATES

Game Play

  • The player’s attacking range was previously ambiguous due to a lack of being able to visibly see it. To solve this issue, we created a slashing effect for the player’s attack.
    • The knight attack now has a slash effect that shows the attack range.
    • The knight can now attack three times before a cool down from previously only being able to slash once.
  • The Fly Guy attack behavior has also been changed. The time for the Fly Guy to attack, along with slight tweaks to the attack behavior has been adjusted.
    • Fly Guy will now attack quicker than previously
  • The city and swamp level difficulty has been lowered after playtesting.
    • City level will now go longer before spawning a spike or pit
    • Swamp level will now go longer before spawning a spike or pit
  • A previous bug that was left as a feature was the ability to stand on the Ground Guy after killing them. This has been removed for better polish.
    • The knight will no longer collide with the Ground Guy after killing them

Visual

  • Clouds were taking too long to change between scenes. This has now been tweaked to start changing earlier for a better visual representation between scenes. In addition to the cloud tweaks, the lighting has also been changed to solve the same problem of scenes not coming together quick enough. Lighting for the City scene has also been changed to better match the darkness of the setting. To ensure every character is visible on the screen no matter the setting, we also added a glow to all the characters making them standout even in the darkest of scenes.
  • Visual effects were added to the knights slash and a pixelated blood effect has been added to the enemies deaths.
    • Each attack slash has their own glow to accentuate the visual effect.
    • Pixelated blood can now be seen after killing an enemy
  • The camera has also changed to follow the knight closer and move with the knight as they jump.
    • Camera now moves with the knight up and down as they jump.

Bug Fixes

  • The progression bar has been changed to fix the bug of it not matching the actual level.
  • The knight not being able to jump while attacking multiple enemies has been fixed.
  • The knight being able to jump and attack before the level starts has been fixed.
  • The knight not being able to jump while near the Ground Guy has been fixed.
